"Biggest Loser" competitors gaining it back

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/02/he...ight-loss.html

Big study of Season 8 "Biggest Loser" contestants finds that all but one gained significant weight following the competition; and that, to great surprise, all their bodies' resting metabolisms *continue* to slow down.

Six years later, on average their bodies burn about 500 fewer calories per day.

The "winner" burns 800 calories less per day. He's gained back 100 pounds. No wonder, if your body literally takes two meals to do what normally takes three.

Anyway, the researchers said it was "stunning", which because it's the NY Times, means they were actually stunned by it. What's really going on here is that our bodies find a weight and then fight really hard against us to maintain that weight.
