You'd have to convince me that the ocean is robbing itself of potential benefit by eroding land and housing fish. People are counterproductive in this regard because....

If you're the religious type, then I think it said in the bible that God created Man in his own image, which I translate to mean that man can create other things from the earth, if he wishes, even if it isn't biodegradable like diapers.

When God gave man dominion over the earth, it meant we were supposed to be the stewards of a gift. We were given a box of Godiva chocolates and instead of enjoying them properly, we're putting nacho cheese sauce on em and feeding them to the dog.
