Well I finally saw Shadow! *waves at black kittehs*

Gaines has a white spot on his chest. He was dropped off by someone years ago, but I've always thought he was a Russian Blue. Then I'd read so many times that many people think that, but their cat really isn't a Russian Blue.

Well, I found out he has all the characteristics: the double coat (well, it's cold in Russia!), the silvery sheen, the deep "bottle green" eyes (no other eye color, it's dark bright green or its not an RB) a barely noticeable tail stripe and, the kicker for me, the mauve footpads. Yep, that's Gaines.

The white spot would disqualify him in show arenas, but it's not uncommon.

Yet I'll never know how he made his way to me the winter it was 20 degrees below zero for an extended period of time. I suspect the housekeeper to the mansion (I lived in a cool old outbuilding that was converted to an apartment): she knew I was a big sucker for cats though at the time I already had two.
