I love these kinds of shows. We've lost soooo much knowledge over the millenia, from the burning of THE Library at Alexandria, to all the knowledge destroyed by Christian Priests because they felt it posed a "threat." Very sad.

I know there is speculation about how the Egyptians lit the Lighthouse at Alexandria, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. I believe sometimes they may have used mirrors and fire/daylight to light things, or crystals. My ex told me the ancient Greeks had steam-powered engines. I don't know if it's true, but if it is, you have to wonder what else they knew, that we lost and took ages to discover again.

hmmm, I guess there is some truth to it... http://campus.udayton.edu/~hume/Steam/steam.htm
