Allegedly, the forensic evidence came about because Britain sent crime scene dogs after being dissatisfied with the process of the Portuguese police. These dogs allegedly smelled blood inside the couple's rental car. The car was rented three weeks after her disappearance, but the theory is that they had hidden the body until then and just recently moved or disposed of it. DNA tests on the car have been performed but the results have not been released.
