Edited to Add

about editing . . . since someone mentioned all my posts are edited, I've been self-conciously noticing it. And yeah--almost all the time after I post, I re-read it, and find either an error or an additional thought. So I edit.

Now, all of a sudden I see this "ETA" pop up everywhere. ETA? I'm thinking. Estimated Time of Arrival. Nope. So, off to Urban Dictionary and I find it's Edited to Add. Okay, makes sense.

But is it important to mention that? Is it somehow important for the reader or the flow of the thread to differentiate the reason for editing? Cellar even has a reason box to fill in.

Sometimes I edit my posts lots and lots of times, to tweak what I want to say just right. Or sometimes to take back things I realize might offend some people, now that I've seen it put out there. Yeah, maybe I should do some editing beforehand, I concede that point. But I truly think forums like these are more spontaneous conversation than English composition exercises.

So, does it matter what the reason for editing is?
