Nigerian Government rejects 'fatwa'
I've always thought that beauty pagents are barbaric (not in any kind of knee-jerk feminist way, I just think they're stupid), and of course this situation has proved my point. However, in reading the linked article I wondered ... what authority does the secular government have to lift the fatwa? If I were that reporter, I'd be as far away from Nigeria as possible for the rest of my life.
