A lack of immediate or even favorable response, doesn't mean your letter was a waste of time.
There's a good chance your elected rep never even saw it, but it, plus other letters the rep's flunky reads, help form the answer the rep will get when he asks the flunky which way the wind blows. Don't stop writing to them.... venting is good therapy too.
