Moderator nomination thread
There should be at least two moderators so that the whole concept is spread over many people and not just one.
It doesn't take much work at all. One would be added to the list of email addresses that get notified when someone reports a post. One would remove spam and forum abuse and things like this. Moderators can do the following: - Edit, move, delete posts - Edit, move, copy, open/close threads - Post announcements (make posts "sticky" at the top of the forum) - Ban users They cannot: - See real IP addresses - See hidden user profile information Being a moderator is more responsibility than work. In recent times we have been receiving about one spam per day and those users have to be banned and their threads removed or at least the posts removed. Sometimes users ask for specific help in editing stuff and one can certainly remove duplicate posts and merge threads that should be merged and such. Cellar moderation is purposefully light, so there isn't a tremendous amount of actual work to do on that front, unless you have a vision of a different Cellar than the one we've arrived at so far. So I figure there should be two, and that we should nominate and vote on them. So the floor is open to nominations and another thread will be opened for voting. We should elect our moderators, it is the only fair way to do it. Previously nominated in PMs and the "changes" thread have been: xoxoxoBruce, wolf, SteveDallas, Lumberjim and Nothing But Net. Did I miss anyone? NBN was more interested in just the one section so I leave it to him whether he prefers to be nominated for the whole thing. If any nominees have second thoughts now is the time. BTW I appreciate all your private messages on the subject, everything you all have said makes a lot of sense. |
