Welcome to the Cellar, davistud.
Can't be fiberglass because it would char to powder. Only thermo-setting materials can do the taffy imitation. Plastic is still in the running though. I think what you're seeing as light coming through, is actually direct light on parts of a three dimentional "sculpture" of sorts. Hell, you're in Texas, Run out and check for us.......please.
