I was told Julia Child once said something like: the secret to a good dinner party is to serve everything an hour late and cover it with lots of butter.

Perhaps that could be adapted to hors d'ouvres. I just ate an enormous bowl of beef stew and I can't, for the life of me, think of anything yummy. I just want to lie on a hot rock in the sun.

When I'm hungry I'll have better ideas.

OK I just remembered an old Geo. Carlin bit about the best way to go grocery shopping: Don't go shopping for a month, smoke a huge joint, then take $5,000. with you to the grocery store.

That, combined with Julia's advice should set you well on your way to your own cooking show. Plus all the above recipe ideas you can claim as your own.
