7/15/2002: Redneck games again

If your name is Randy "L-Bow" Tidwell, and you look like this, you just might be a redneck. The real reason I include this image is because of the LAST IotD image of the Redneck Games: the bellyflop contest. That shot became one of the most popular IotD images ever...

The same contest is obviously going on in the background of Mr. Tidwell. Turns out it happens every July. And the belly flop challenge is only one of the events. They also have the Armpit Serenade and the Hubcap Hurl. The Redneck Games were created as an alternative to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and are held at a small town nearby.

Cellar IotD visitors from other nations, please enjoy the national heritage of the US. Actually it's awesome that these folks can have such a sense of humor about it. And one of the interesting things about the class system is that the people who are lower class are just as happy as the middle class and upper class.

In fact, it seems the upper class believes that the lower class people are not as happy as they are, while the lower class believes the same thing about the upper class. The classes lower than yours do not necessarily want to aspire to be like you; they are just as likely to actively dislike your class, and will deeply resent you if you actively encourage them to move up to your class.
