When you're talking about five or six drinks at a sitting, more than once a week, on a regular basis, well, in my book that's a problem. I've worked or done graduate study on enough campuses to be convinced that the "problem" is a) a lot worse than when I was in college 15 years ago and b) is not simply an anecdotal effort to justify increased budgets for certain departments.
I used to have six or more drinks a night, multiple times a week when I was 18, but I didn't, and still don't, think I had/have a drinking problem. It's the life of a college-aged social drinker.
