What makes post acceptable verses posts that are ignored or just not seen?

How in hell does anyone know if their post has been read or not, unless it's the only post in the thread?

Read or seen, same thing.... how do you know?
If you're question is really, not what makes a post "acceptable", but what makes a post get responded to, then;

Did you ask a question?
Did you disagree with someones post?
Did you take a controversial, unusual, or unpopular position on something?

Am I not understanding what you're asking? I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I can be real obtuse sometimes, so smack me if I'm not getting it, ok?
