Drum Heads for Big Bucks

This guy, a memorabilia collector, paid $43,000 for a used bass drum head.

Well it was a 20 incher, and it was used by Ringo Starr... on the Ed Sullivan show.

That's not an unreasonable price.

Can you imagine having such a recognizable piece of one of the biggest cultural events of the 20th century hanging on your wall?

No, but I can see having a replica, starting conversations about the band and the music, rather than how rich and lucky I am. I have a reproduction of the antique circus poster that John bought, which inspired,"For the Benefit of Mr Kite".

I do agree it's a major piece of rock history and a great story on how he got it and verified it. Obsessed crazy people are usually entertaining, because they pick interesting quests.

He did another article about the rest of the Ringo drum heads he's tracked down. The real ones and the fake ones, and to one that's disappeared.
If you go to his replica clothing site, on the left at the bottom is, "Published Articles". The, "Beatles Sullivan Drumhead", is the one linked in my OP, and the, "Beatle Drumhead Story" is about the other six drop T heads. That one can't be linked direct, you have to click on it at the site, but I enjoyed reading it.
