Another "why I left" thread

Or maybe I should say, why I left and why I'll be back.

The short(er) version:

I am excruciatingly unhappy with the progress of my schoolwork and my life in general. There are some major changes needed and the first step is to eliminate some unproductive habits. Some of the habits distracting me are; the cellar, video games, reading/researching non-credit subjects with my new and cool Questia.com online library account, and socializing on and offline.

There are more interesting, thoughtful, funny and intelligent people here than anywhere else that I know of online. Though there have been some recent changes, this is still a great place for thinking people to participate in a wide variety of conversations. There are also some really cool people just coming on that add to that even more.

What I am going to do is stop "hovering" or stop hanging out here all the time. It's addictive and counter productive for me at this time. Once I get some momentum I'll be back.

In the meantime I have a collection of short stories and personal experiences from the crazy sink factory that I'll post about every week. Writing these thoughts and stories down is therapy for me in this most unusual journey, so I can justify spending a couple hours a week developing and posting them here.

The hugo mega post on the gay marriage thread is officially concelled though. I'm sorry for even starting it although I have learned quite a bit about the subject and it's surrounding issues. I can no longer spend that amount of time on non-credit subjects. Please accept my apology for not following through.

As for the members, I think you're all likeable, articulate "peeps" and when time allows, slang and company will return.
