Well I love them still and see the wit and brilliance of them, as did my dad (though he's not exactly the paragon of adult maturity and brilliance...).

Kids shows now, especially disney channel, are... one-dimensional, way too predictable, formulaic, repetitive, and unoriginal.
Kids shows back when I was a kid were zany, random, crazy, and weird, and nickelodeon prided themselves on that. I still love all those shows, but for completely different reasons.

JOHNNY BRAVO!

Old cartoon network is almost as good as old nickelodeon.

I'm backing up Ibram. They might be giants were floating around the Pete and Pete project and the writing was really funny. They released the DVD sets not too long ago and I'm getting them. Imagine Malcolm in the middle but about a billion times better.

Oh I don't have to imagine it, I'm not that much older than you guys. I loved Pete & Pete. But you can bet that I'm not going to go back and watch any of the old episodes now--because I'm pretty sure I'd have my memories spoiled. Maybe not, but I won't risk it.

I was devastated to learn as an adult that the Clangers were knitted. Devastated.

Fetch with Ruff Ruffman is a good kids show today. Sometimes I'll actually sit down and watch it with them.

Ibram, I remember Clarissa Explains It All. I liked watching that!

I really miss My So-called Life. One of my favorite shows ever, even though I was a bit older than the target audience.

Nothing will ever be as good again as Warner Bros cartoons, though. (edited to add: well, maybe Doug Funny)

The wiggles are lame.

The High Fives have much more (boobs) going for them.
Physiotherapists and chiropractors have a rush of neck-injuries after father/child day at the High Fives shows.

I hated the wiggles, but let him watch them. They were annoying but I could tune them out.
I would not let him watch Barney, I saw several overt misogynistic messages on that show and put my foot-down to all family who took care of him.
