Yao Ming's debut

Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come. It would be a shame after all the effort that went into giving him the ability to play in the U.S. Then again he's only been in the US for a total of 11 days can't be easy to make that transition.

For those of you that watch the NBA on TNT...apparently, Charles Barkley said last week that if Yao Ming scored 19 points in a game, he would kiss Kenny Smith's ass. (Barkley and Smith are in-studio commentators for TNT.) Well, Yao scored 20 points Sunday night, and on "Listen Up" (Barkley's weekly semi-talk show on TNT) last night, Barkley made good by kissing the ass...of a donkey brought on by Smith. Jesse Ventura was also there...he was a guest on the show.

Yao scored 30 points a few nights ago...things are looking up...literally.

Funny of the day: The Rockets have a player by the name of Moochie Norris. That's right up there with Mookie Blaylock and Bonzi Wells...

Yao ming had another good game last night. Seems he's adjusting to the NBA at a pretty rapid pace, though I hate to see what Shaq will do to the poor guy

Moochie Norris is a stud, he's a hell of a player and his afro kicks ass. He's also a lot friendly then Bonzi Wells or Mookie Blaylock.

Watch out for Ming. He's turning into a baller. As long as he doesn't get injured he'll turn into a super-star. The Rockets are the new dynasty in waiting I believe, as long as Franchise, Yao, and Mobley stick together in 2 years they are going to be an unstoppable force.

A co-worker and I were discussing the following topic today:

Shaq is one of the few "power centers" out there. Nowadays, most centers focus on blocking and don't score many points. Ewing, Olajuwon, and Abdul-Jabbar are gone, and David Robinson will be gone at the end of this year...and maybe Shaq too, if that toe keeps giving him trouble.

Yao Ming could be the next "power center."

Yao had another good game, this Time against the Kings. He hit a few clutch shots and dragged down 15 boards. Watch him if you get the chance, he's the future of the league(barring any unforseen injury)

That's the problem with some of these giants...it doesn't take much for them to get hurt.

IIRC, several years back, Mark Eaton (a center for the Utah Jazz, if I'm not mistaken) hurt himself by jumping for the ball. Nothing fancy...just jumping for a loose ball. He was 7'4".

Their breakability isn't the only thing with which I have a problem. I hate watching Shaq play. What is his recipe for success:
Stand right under the basket, get a rebound, and muscle his way back to score.
That isn't basketball, that's a sixth grade bully playing with fourth graders. The man can't shoot to save his life, doesn't dribble that well, can't pass. Grrrrr....

Sorry headslplice but I got to disagree with you a little bit. I dislike shaq becuase he is a bully. But he can pass. He really is a pretty good passing center. Watch him when he actually trusts his teammates if he is double or triple teamed and someone cuts to the hoop he can hit them like a point guard sometimes.

But anyways what does everyone think of the Lakers start I thought they had figured it out when the came back on the Mav's but then they go out and lose to Golden state. They have already lost 14 games. They lost a total of 24 last year. God it would be great it they didn't make the playoffs wouldn't it.
