Bruce Springsteen is the prince of tear-jerkers...Downbound Train, Living Proof, most of the Nebraska Album, etc.
Estranged by Guns N' Roses, WWOZ by Better than Ezra, Not Only Numb by Gin Blossoms, all stand out as exceptionally emotional. The musical finale of Purple Rain, after the last verse but before the improvised coda, is another masterpiece. |

I'm sorry, Kagen, but... I feel nothing but loathing for NIN/Trent Reznor. NIN practically embodies the angst-sludge I despise in modern music.

See, its not as modern as, say, Green Day, but I find NIN indistinguishable from the multitude of other (to overuse a phrase) angst-sludge bands.
And when I hear industrial, I don't see a bunch of pale rockers in dark clothes etc, I get more of a... Dire Straits vibe. Industrial implies industry, which implies the working man. Listen to Industrial Disease or Money for Nothing by Dire Straits. That, to me, is industrial. But anyway, yeah. NIN. I don't like them. Too angsty and... straightforward(?) for me. Maybe thats not the word. Something like that. |
