An Entire Town with free Delivery...

...from evil. Do you desire sin-free living? Want to get away from godless birth control? Want to live the good life? Stop in and take a look at Ave Maria, FL:

Quote:
Monaghan said that in his community, stores will not sell pornographic magazines, pharmacies will not carry condoms or birth control pills, and cable television will have no X-rated channels.
Doesn't that just sound like heaven? The 25 mile drive to the nearest town, Naples, ensures you won't be tempted. Pizzaman Monaghan is going to rejuvenate a pristine American from within.

I'll give it a year before it collapses.

Yeah, thats pretty much rediculous. Thes best approach for people worried about sin is to educate them on things like the addictive nature of pornography, etc. Not attempt to create some utopia. We'll always have temptaions, the best bet is to learn to live with them and deal with them as best we can.

Jeb Bush was there, halleluiah! Soon, alcohol will be outlawed, then caffiene, masturbation, etc. But you'll still be able to get Domino's pizza!

A better article, here.

Quote:
Sources close to the project said Monaghan was particularly disturbed by what he regards as the failure of western civilization to resist Islamic fundamentalism. In a speech to students last year, Healy warned that Islam “no longer faces a religiously dynamic West.
This man is nuts.

I bet I could buy a house, there, and pay in cash with money made from black market porn and morning after pills.

I dunno, won't it just fill up with old people who don't care about needing birth control? I mean, other than that and the annoying-as-hell proselytizing, what's really so non-mainstream about the place? Does the average person really buy porno magazines on a regular basis and pay extra for the Playboy channel?

Funny thing is - I'll bet the lifestyle he espouses isn't much different than a fundamentalist Muslim lifestyle. You know, keep women's flesh from being seen, and all that.

Wait around. The way things are going, they'll be burning the sinners at the stake once again.

My bet is that after a short while they'll catch the mayor banging the 14 y.o. babysitter when he's not busy wifeswapping with the guy who runs the hardware store.

The DA will have a frickin huge hydroponic/H.I.D. lighted, climate controlled, reefer farm in his basement, and the deacon/scoutmaster will be up to the typical shenanigans.

The ones who create these "sanctuaries" are typically only trying to hide from themselves. But how long will the hidden self stay hidden?

So will women be forbidden to wear shorts or halter tops or - goddess forbid - bikinni's? Will there be warning signs posted at the edge of town? "She who wears a plunging neckline, abandon all hope should you enter here"?

Inglis, Florida, already did something similar. The mayor banished satan from the town and signs at the edges of town were posted as a warning for him to stay out.

Of course, we all know that god is angry with Florida. We'll see how Ave Maria fairs from June-Nov in 2006.

Satanists impose their religion on all others. How will they keep satan out when he only wants satanist worshippers - right wing Christian extremist - in his town?

The idea of Ave Maria sounds half-assed. If Monaghan was really serious about having a "sin-free" community, he would do it like the Amish. Domino's Florida Dutch Pretzels for everyone!
