-Your pet rat bruxing and/or dozing in your lap. -Uploading a particularly stubborn page of code and finding it actually WORKS! -Waking up early on a weekend and remembering you have no pressing engagements. -A warm bed on a cold morning. -Having family far enough away so they don't invite themselves over all the time, but close enough for a weekend visit.

Sliding up from a low bass to a highish mid-note on a big Moog modular synth. Being in the mountains on a perfect day. Standing under the stars on a moonless, cloudless night somewhere out in the middle of absolute lightless nowhere. Being at Old Faithful while it erupts, with no one there but you and your wife, under a bright moon, at about 2:00 in the morning. Seeing something incredible and having someone there to turn to and say "Did you see that?!" Watching a meteor shower under perfect conditions in a comfortable chair. Winning the big darts match. Having someone tell you they love you and you know absolutely, positively that they mean it...then telling that person the same thing back, meaning it just as much. Watching the Olympics. Chiefs football. A perfect bottle of mead. Putting on old clothes after losing weight and finding that they actually fit.

A Vodka martini, up, lime twist after a long evening at work Waking up, then realizing you have 2 hours more before you have to (from my youth) Snow Days! Texas Hold 'em and decent cigars until 3am with my frat brothers Sifl and Olly Checking out a show and remembering why I was so into the punk scene in high school Finding out your ex-girlfriend got herpes from the guy she dumped you for Turning jam-bands up on the stereo while cooking and/or doing housework Having people say, "Have you lost weight?"

on finding a $20 in the laundry: I had a friend who used to, occasionally, mail himself a $20 bill. It only costs $.32, and it was kind of cool for him to randomly get a letter with $20 in it. Sure, it costs a little more than simply finding them in the laundry, but it's a lot more sure.

Watching a mother hen showing her chicks the ropes. Making it outdoors or in a tent. Listening to someone describe putting his/her dream in motion. Pete's smile. Goofy kids. Funky music in a funky venue. Wolf starting a thread that pulls me out of a two day grump. Pushing up a timber frame with people power. Taking Merlin (the dog) mountain biking. Catching the rythym of the moment riding a difficult singletrack without a dab. Walking the woods with someone who gets it. Being productive, being lazy. A good book and a wood fire. Thanks Wolf, you rock.
