Hampden, MA 01036

Hampden, MA...small town USA. On the MA/CT state line, on the edge of the CT River valley. 13 miles from Springfield, home of the Springfield Armory, Smith & Wesson, Indian Motocycle, Basketball, Dr Seuss, Timothy Leary and the Duryea which was America's first Automobile (2nd in the world). Tons of other stuff in the area like Savage Arms, Westover AFB, dairy farms with cows that aren't black and white, shade grown tobacco (cigar wrapper), Yankee Candle Factory, Six Flags Park and the Tampax factory. Near U Mass, Smith, Mt Holyoke and lots more. Hampden is now up to maybe 3000 people but still no traffic lights. Mainly bedroom community, mostly white, half catholic half protestant. Very large Jewish community in Longmeadow. One gas station/Quickey Mart, volunteer FD, police since late '60s, 2 cemeteries and a VFW. Wildlife runs rampart...deer, wild turkey, coyote, even moose and a mountain lion...Oh, and a couple widows.
