				4/16/2003: Saatchi Gallery opens
The Saatchi Gallery is a new gallery in London, built by a Brit millionaire, right on the Thames and it's expected to draw a lot of interest. It's brought out several interesting news images. To start, that's a Spencer Tunick installation for the opening of the gallery. (Showing the world the pasty white skin of the Brits - the whitest of white people - and just out of winter? Cruel.) Controversial and interesting installations include this floating lamb preserved in formaldehyde... And this Mini done in polka dots and traversing the staircase... And this is a person standing behind Ron Hauck's "The Mask". This one is interesting, because different shots of it from different angles show a slightly different expression on the huge face. So the "mask" probably changes as you approach it, a very interesting device. |

				 | Figured it would be good to show one of those different angles. Notice how the face appears frightening and angry from this point of view, but determined and thoughtful in the above point of view? Wild. It's an awesome work, and I want to see it in person. |

Very Cool. There must be big steps right behind the photographer to get the menacing top down view as you go in - maybe where the mini is. I want it to sway, just slowly, hovering...or some mechanics to actually change the brow.

It's very John Malkovich meets Wizard of Oz... And if they think the lamb's controversial, just wait until the end-table with a floating Ted Williams makes its appearance.

I don't know much about art, but.......... The mask is very cool. Better than the one with Cher.

Toad! now look what you've done. It's going to take me weeks to get him to come out from behind the refrigerator again. (*sigh*) Sweetie ... honey ... look ... .44 magnums ... they're new ... it's okay, it's safe ... yes, you can have them, but you'll have to come out here for them ...
