Stop Growing, kids!
Apparently we need two "new" bikes this year, and one of them is to replace one we only got last year. i thought the new-bike-a-year thing quit when they got past the 10"ers?

Are you handing down the old bikes, or are the kids too stylish for that? You should at least sell them at a resale shop.

Usually I yard sale them if there isn't another kid in the family who will use it, the odd one I pass on to those who need them more than we need the $$. Hebe's that only got used one year is pink. Otherwise it would be handed down without question -it's the perfect size for Hector. And he sorta likes pink, but is drawing the line at a girl's bike. It was a real steal last year (it was new, clearance) and we thought she'd be on it for a least 2 years, so we didn't worry about the pink. If we can't find a good second-hand bargain, we will put the effort into re-coloring it. Assuming we find her a new one. She's adult-sized now, this should be a bike that lasts her "forever", but we can't afford a decent bike right now, so we may well eke another year out of this one, or buy a junkish one for one year. It's not too too small and it turns out she most likely won't be biking to school.....
basically, whichever we find the best deal on first -20 or 26 inch will get the new bike, the other one will make do with the pink 20" ![]() I put the word out we were looking among friends, within minutes it came back that a 20" boys had been donated to the pool for sale, sent them to look....turns out it was a 16". Ah well, that would have been too lucky!
