New Camera

Im upgrading my SLR from a Konica Minolta 5d, to this little baby....

Sony a100

I looked at the A700, but cant justify double the price.

Great thing is all my Konica lenses will fit on the a100, since Sony bought Konica.

Damn!!! That 5D looks pretty nice itself, to be old & busted. I'm sure we don't have to ask for sample pics from the new hotness.

That is very nice like the fact that it is the ccd megapix not the interlaced ones.

You've taken some cracking pictures Ducks.
If Jinx recommends it my guess is you'll take many more.

Can I butt in and ask a question?as there seems to be a few camera Buffs on these boards is it possible to adjust a digital camera to shoot in black and white rather than adjusting the pictures on the PC.
I have a fujifilm finepix S5600 and I've been through the handbook but can't find anything on it I know it's not that expensive a camera but it's as much as I'm willing to spend at this time.

According to here

Quote:
To add something different to your photos you can add black and white or chrome colour effects. You can also adjust the sharpness of the photos you take.
I can't find an S5600 manual , but according to the S5200 manual,(page 57) there might be an "F" button to display functions, one screen will have number of pixels, ISO, and a camera icon for color. It probably says "STD". This is where you change to chrome or B&W.

You're welcome.

BTW, now that Ducks has a new camera, maybe she will post some artistic photos of herself.

With the lenses you already have, it makes a lot of sense to stick with Nikon.

You might look for a D50 in good condition.. I don't know what the specs are like on the D40 but the D50 is a great camera and will probably be cheaper.

I personally would buy the 6.1 megapixel model and put the $200 toward a lens or an external flash.

Let me tell you about my new fucken Sony that I havent had since the first week of December and have NEVER taken a picture with!!

I buy from a corporate and government supplier in Melbourne, so have to get it freighted.

Anyways, it arrives on a Friday, I dont get a chance to play with it until Saturday...when I am off to the Mega Madness Motor Show.

I cant get the friggen card in it!! It can only go one way, if you try and put it in the wrong way....it wont go in at all.

Anyways, the card goes in and it asks if I want to format the disk.."ok"..."you are unable to use this card".

I have a look and there is 3 bent pins in the bottom. I KNOW I havent done it as the card is a snug fit, there is no way I could of bent the pins unless they were already slightly out of alignment.

So, Sony are now dicking me around because they want me to pay to have it fixed!!!!

This has been going on for nearly 6 weeks.

Oww, that sucks. That's like buying a new computer that doesn't work and having them replace it with a "refurbished" one.

Have Zengum go to Sony headquarters, and kick some ass, for ya.
