August 25, 2016: Peace Valley
Wadi al-Salam (Arabic for "peace valley") is the largest cemetery in the world. Located in Najaf, Iraq, the cemetery covers 4 square miles...3 times the size of Central Park in NYC. Up to 200 burials are performed at the cemetery each day...by comparison, there are 30 a day at Arlington. More interesting info here.

Thanks!
Another thing that struck me about this was the cost...$4100...that's about how much the average Iraqi makes in a year. |
