				webhosting that doesnt suck.

can anyone suggest webhosting that doesnt suck? i just need something inexpensive with php and mysql support so i can fuck around and pretend to learn it. my current provider seems to think 'uptime' means 'it will be fixed within a week' over the course of a month.

I happen to rule very bad. Unfortunately, I am lazy about setting up DNS - ask sycamore.

hmmm... tempting, but im suddenly thinking 20 bucks a month for a broken service is pretty reasonable.

![]() i just love how getting them to fix something is like pulling teeth, but when my credit card expires they waste no fucking time in making sure i know about it. the only reason im still with them at all is because we are buying a house and i cannot be without that email address right now. oh fuck. now that ive said that out loud it will probably break. ~james |

I use dreamhost for my vanity domain... I've never had any reliability problems with them. Of course, my usage is very modest, and the most traffic I generate is when I put an image there to link to from one of my Cellar postings. But all my mail is forwarded through them, and I can't remember any non-announced downtime in the 3 years I've been running the domain.

You could use me except that I am even lazier. Ask juju - I told him I'd work out hosting pricing and options about three weeks ago, and still haven't done it.

Depends on what's important to you. There seem to be quite a few services for under $10/month with quite a bit of space. Shell access (i.e. SSH) seems to limit your choices a bit, for example. This looks like a pretty good search engine for features.

This looks like a helluva deal to me for $8.25/month plus $25 setup: http://www.nexpoint.net/products/shared/linspecial.cfm Unlimited POP/IMAP email accounts, 500MB storage, unlimited bandwidth, SSH access, 99.9% uptime, 30 day money-back guarantee. |

Could I possibly contact you offline to talk to you about hosting? UT sent me in your direction at Forks, and I've not thought about it till today. Dagney |

Eh, I'm real bad about these things. Send me a private message or something about your needs. To test server speed, see the images in http://msdelta.net/~dave/images - 'cause that's the server it's on.

I can do pretty much anything you want, 'cause... I own the server. It's colocated in Baltimore. |

Nah, I'll do it for mostly free. I appreciate donations to charities. Maybe Toys for Tots around Christmas, etc.
