Saw this article today--10 things not to lie to your doctor about. The titular catchy alliteration among them.

What made me smile was, at my recent visit to the gyn, I was questioned (delicately) about the number and gender of my sexual partners, which kinda surprised me.

I think the doc thought the number was a little high.

I left my first gyno after she lectured me (not at all delicately) about not having the same sexual partner I'd had at my last visit--a year ago. It's called college, lady. If I'm not pregnant or infected with something, you can shut the hell up.

Along Clod's lines - I stopped going to my Family Planning Clinic (a euphemism for free contraception) when the nurse taking my smear test was really rough and made me bleed. Copiously, into my really nice, new, white knickers. I was a teen I admit. Of course I judged from that, so she was the one and only for a while. I get them regularly now and have never encountered the same problem!

5. Are having financial troubles

6. Want cheap medicine
If you want a cheaper medicine than the one your doctor prescribes, don't be embarrassed to say so. Rackner says for $4 you can buy a list of the generic drugs. Ask your doctor if something on the list could work as well as the one he's suggesting.

Bless the NHS. Even if I can't get counselling. I am in a programme now, but it costs £10 a week. Which may sound pathetic, but it's 1/6 of my income.

7. Feel depressed or anxious or stressed out
Along with money, many people have trouble talking about their feelings. "Depression is a serious disease and a lot of patients hesitate to tell their physician because because they think it's embarrassing, or the problem will go away by itself," Kaminetsky says. "Depression is too dangerous to keep a secret."

Again - this is so important. But not yet recognised in this country. I'm sure MANY people on Incapacity/ Employment Support benefit could be contirbuting members of society and the workforce if only they had therapy rather than drugs. Or as well as. Here in Aylesbury is the first time I have been guaranteed counselling since I was first diagnosed. Swings & roundabouts.
