I was just listening to Brian May on Fresh Air, and he estimated - I can't remember the number - something like 90 vocal tracks on Bohemian Rhapsody, and I remembered this single, which also has the incredibly layered vocals on it. Nobody takes the time to layer the vocals like this anymore, even though they did it to tape when Queen was recording.

I LOVE that song. The production is awesome, just chock-full o' soul! It's not the "fuck you", it's the "Ooo Ooo Oooo!"

If it's successful -- and damn it's at 3 million plays right now -- it will be further evidence of the irrelevancy of radio.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of this song, but one day it was on here and one of the former sales manglers walked by my office singing "H.R. Puffnstuff" so that's all I can hear when it comes on (which is what made me think of it)

I rarely visit this thread, and I see I'm missing out. Some comments on recent posts--
--Queen Does Not Suck (inside joke with BD#2)
--Gotan project is awesome--I got one of their albums after seeing the tango done by Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere in that movie they did (fine movie, btw)
--and here's one for you. Bob Dylan -- "People are crazy and times are strange . . . I used to care, but things have changed."Ah, I love it1

That was really great! I liked the whole thing, but the rain and thunder part in the beginning was brilliant. I always did like that song anyway.

The rainstorm thing was a standard game at summer camp when I was a kid. We could never coordinate the thunder that nicely though, being a buncha white kids with no rhythm...
