In related news: music industry protective agencies plan to launch an exhaustive search for cassette tapes (sometimes called "mix tapes") given to thousands upon thousands of teenage girls being courted by horny teenage boys in the late 70s and early 80s. A spokesperson for the group said "We believe it's time to crack down on the blatant thievery which threatens to not only derail the sanctity of the music industry but takes profits from the pockets of hard-working pop stars everywhere. We now have the technology to insert a high pitched squeal into the background of every AM radio station in the world, rendering useless devices such as the Fisher Price Tape Recorder, a leading device used by perpetrators in the music pirating underworld. "

I actually got one of those from a grown man a few years back...except, of course, he burned the songs on a CD instead. I was more bewildered than touched.

Shawnee, one of the songs was that Little River Band diddy of yours.

Thanks! It was one of those things I thought about on my lunch hour, then I looked back and "this, or that, would have a better word or it could have made more sense re: time frames..."

Pico, I have a few of those CDs myself.

so I'm sappy

I heard this on the radio on the way home, and had forgotten how sad it is.
I really like it.

Here's another Tom Petty
Free Falling
from last year (Superbowl Halftime)

If you listen you can hear the audience singing along. I went to a Petty concert many years ago and it was like that the entire concert. It must be amazing to hear you lyrics being sung back to you by so many people...
