Central PA

Is boring. Nothing to do here.

I was wondering if anyone else was from Harrisburg or CentralPA.

So......

Anyone go to Oil Wrestling Night at the Odyssey on Sunday? Or not?

My friends and I got lost (as in, our two cars got separated and we had to find each other) in Harrisburg once. That wasn't very fun. On the way to Woodstock, no less. Wahoo!

verb and I mentioned offline that I'm from there originally. I barely know anything about the area any more - been since 1985 when I lived there, 1981 since I was there full-time. That's a long time gone.

But I do know that there is no better feeling in the entire world than being all three of 1) young, 2) in love, or something like it, and 3) at Hersheypark. If you can manage all three at the same time, well I highly recommend that.

Ahh, the fond memories of Hersheypark. Of finding all of the little 'secrets', like getting free ice water at the beer place under Minetown Vittels while bottled water is $4 a pop. And finding (in my opinion) the best arcade game for 25 cents---Spy Hunter.

Someone said something recently about new rides, but I havent been there in a while. Anybody with more details?

For me, the best feeling in the world is waking up, waiting for Jenni to wake up, and then seeing her smile at me. Man, that does it for me.

Also, I bet that it would be even better if that happened, and then I farted out a billion dollars into my pants. Man, that would be a great feeling.

I got sort of lost leaving Harrisburg one day. I thought I was following the Turnpike and it turned out to be US 222, and I got partway to Allentown (fabled in song and...well...song) before I figured it out. My excuse is I was flying an airplane on my first solo cross-country flight, and my favorite radio-beacon was out-of-service.

I did eventually figure it out though... :-)

i am giving you an evil look although you cant see it. you cant buy a person. well, you can buy a service from a person, but thats different. anyway, where the hell would we keep a midget?

anyway. hershey park is fun. although i have some bad memories of it. i walked around in wet shoes and socks all day once and got really bad pains in my legs and then went into that big tall spinny thing right near the entrance and got scared (dont like heights too much...love hot air balloons, but dont like heights, go figure).

but in all, good times.

*nostalgia* My formative years were spent in Mechanicsburg! But I havent been back since the mid 80s.
One Hershey memory is being a girlscout on a field trip to the chocolate factory. This was back in the day of actually getting down on the factory floor(mid 70s). I remember going into the mixing room. We walked in and it was hot and giant swimming pools of chocolate mechanically mixed with bars. The knock out was the overwhelming smell. Not yummy chocolate smell, but uber, steamy, sick sweet wall-o-chocolate edge-o- wretch smell. Then we saw women picking out badly wrapped kisses from a conveyor belt. They gave us samples and we still ate them even though you could kinda get a sense memory smell of that nauseating mixing room.

I spent many biking hours and learned to drive on Lisburn road, which was a winding country road that I imagine is totally developed and crammed with traffic. Anybody know of Ashcombe's Dairy Farm? Yellow Breeches Creek? *sigh*
