The Howard Stern Show on Sirius
I was able to manipulate Sirius into turning on the sattelite reciever in my demo for a 'demonstration' period. I got to listen to a couple months of really piss poor sycophantic crapola leading up to the start of Howard's new show. That kind of sucked, but the rest of the channels were pretty cool. I think I'd pay for it if I couldn't get it free. NFL, classical, bluegrass, rock.....and 13 bucks is nothin. So i got to hear the first show, and the second.....It's better. i thought it would be over the top and overdone, but it seems they are trying to restrain themselves a bit. Howard actually lost a little bit of control this morning because everyone was hysterical with laughter.
Anyone else gettin it? now that he's everywhere? i just had to switch demos today.....gotta try to get it turned on again in the new one.......

I've had Sirius for about a year now and I'll never go back to commercial radio. There's just no end to the amount of new and cool music and other content on Sirius.

Hey Now!
I got Sirius for xmas because I am a Howard Stern fan.
So far I've been listening to the show as much as I can, and some Howard 100 News bits, but not Bubba the Love Sponge. The show is funnier than it was last year on K-Rock, especially the first week with George Takei in the studio. Artie is still incredibly funny. I also listen to a few other stations on there, mostly the BBC World Service, but I got it because of Howard, and so far it's worth it. F Jackie! Mitch |

They got Bubba the Love Sponge? Wow, never expected him to land anywhere. (I listened to his show sometimes while he was on XM.)
I got XM a while back (umm.. let's see.. was it Christmas 2003?) for the classical music. In the XM vs. Sirus battle I could not at that time see a clear winner on content, but the SkyFi had just come out, and I just couldn't see paying for a system to sit in my car that I couldn't listen to anywhere else so I went to XM for the hardware and have never regretted it--especially when Opie & Anthony were added to the channels I was already enjoying. I hope Stern does well (I never liked his show much but I have no reason to want to see him fail), but it will be some time before we see if it was worth it for Sirius to pay him all that ca$h. |

You ever listen to Ron and Fez on XM? I liked them when they were on WJFK in DC. Now we've got Jay Severin.

I flipped on ch100 on my way to work one morning and heard:
The entire 4m30s of Cheap Trick's I Want You to Want Me A commercial for some herbal remedy. A commercial for an energy drink. ...and then Stern finally came back and...advertised a gambling website for several minutes. I never got to actually hear his show. It takes me 15min to get to work and all I heard was commercials at that 7:30am EST slot in the day. I've had Sirius for a couple years and while I understand Stern praises it up and down, he doesn't yet get the spirit of it. I flipped back to my commercial free Sirius Blues on the way home. Screw ads. |

i actually stay tuned through the ads now. he used to do 20 minutes of straight commercials, now it's more like 5 typically. 'course, my ride is 1hr minimum. he also rebroadcasts at 9pm, so i can sometimes catch stuff i missed that morning. the interview with the gay NFL guy yesterday was pretty deep. Beesley Reese is a local sportscaster, and this guy ( Simmons?) said he thought he was a hotty......then they had Beesley on the air this morning, and man was HE squirming. howard rocks.

I had a conversation with one of my patients last night about Stern's show on Sirius. He felt that there was much more creativity and humor in the broadcast version and that the show on Sirius is more like a contest to see how many times you can say "fuck" during the broadcast.
I don't like Stern anyway, and have no opinion on the new show, as I will not purchase a device to listen to it.
