Sparks

Caught this metal-working woman while roaming campus for photographs last night. I kept trying to get her attention, but she was far too busy working some kind of awesome sculpture so I just snapped this image. I'll have to return to capture some shots of what she was working on (with her permission) because it was pretty wild looking. Mmmm, fire.

That looks like an early prototype of C-3PO sitting down there on the floor!

Awesome shot! I'm guessing the shutter speed was crazy fast on this one (to capture the arcs with very little blur). Digital?

Hah! Awesome! There is some really crazy stuff sitting around the USF Fine Arts building. One day I'll collect some stuff I've captured from there and post them up. Students have some twisted minds.

No -- it was actually slow at about 1.5 seconds or so, otherwise you wouldn't get the streaming effect. I just happened to catch the artist not moving for very long, which was just luck. Shot with a Sony F717, digital.

Ah I see. And all this without a tripod? Wicked!

Yikes! Yes, I had a tripod! My hands are never that steady, even when I get my required coffee.
