Thanks to Elspode for passing this along, and I figured it wasn't really appropriate for Friday...
It turns out that ancient Egyptians felt that some animal forms were sacred, and many had pets, even the pharoahs. So they prepared pets using the same mummification process as they did the humans, and many of them are still preserved. This news image comes about because the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is now having a display of these mummified animals, which include cats, dogs, monkeys, and even crocodiles and gazelles. I personally wouldn't have a croc or gazelle as a pet, but those wacky pharoahs...
