Anti-war hypocrites

Three of the biggest congressional Republicans: Trent Lott of Mississippi, Senate Majority Whip Don Nickles of Oklahoma, and House Majority Whip Tom DeLay... speaking out against Kosovo in May 1999:

Payback's a bitch, ain't it?

Back then you'll recall there was a Democratic president in the White House, which meant that war planning was anti-American, a failure of diplomacy, filled with propaganda and unwinnable... according to those three guys.

The info's not yet up on the foxnews website, but last night on The O'Reilly Factor (just before the tomahawks started flying) Bill pointed out a nearly identical flip-flop on the part of Tom Daschle ... it was related to Clinton's order to bomb Iraq, so it's more of a one-to-one match as far as issues goes.

No question about it: Tom Daschle is their D equivalent. Almost like a designated attack dog who's supposed to say stuff anti-the-other-side, in the hopes that some of it will stick to the media.

Congress just isn't a source of wisdom. When the news channels talk to the elected reps, they never have much insight - except for people on intelligence committees or armed services committees, where they've actually dealt with some of the matters involved.

They're just 99.9% political, even on matters that are too important for politics.

As many a wise man has said before me...

If "pro" is the opposite of "con", what is the opposite of "progress"?

Found it ...

O'Reilly's Talking Points 3-19-2003

This is the link to the rant, uh, i mean talking points memo, on Tom Daschle that I mentioned above.

Quote:
But in 1998, when President Clinton bombed Iraq, Daschle said this, "We have exhausted virtually our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that... We have got to force them to comply, and we are doing so militarily."
