Whitney Houston Dead

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-17001548

must admit to being kind of shocked/surprised by this one. I know she has the right background for a sudden, early death, but Michael Jackson surprised me far less.

Wow, RIP Whitney. She was beautiful and lordy, that woman had some pipes.

She had a set of pipes on her, but I never liked her style of extra-quavery pop. What really struck me is that she was two years younger than I. Higher mileage, but younger.

Anyone with that much talent who throws it away as she did ought to be charged with a crime against humanity. I liked her pop style and still enjoy her early albums; but, have had no use for the person she subsequently chose to be. Good riddance.

RIP Whitney. No one gets out alive and coffins don't have saddle bags. See you somewhere down the line most likely.

Caught me off guard but she's had a rough time of it.

Better that the drugs got her than Bobby Brown, I guess.

Like you already said, MJ I expected. This one not so much. She's been out of the news long enough I guess I figured she'd cleaned herself up. bummer.

Same here. I hated what she did to I Will Always Love You.
I did like My Love Is Your Love though.

I liked it when she did it but the copy cats got very old.

I, for one, feel a tremendous sadness at the passing of Whitney Houston. She had the voice of an angel, and she was so beautiful. The fact that she wasn't perfect, that she had demons (that an angel should have demons) made her all the more real to me. She wasn't a joke.

I'm not one to fawn and paw over celebrities, but I am appreciative of artists of any kind who are a cut above most. I admire especially the ones who almost don't even seem real, they're just that good.

I have a VHS of SNL Music a Go Go (from first 15 years of SNL music) and one of the features where they show the whole performance is Whitney doing "I'm Your Baby Tonight." Decked out in the dress of the time, dyed denim shorts with holes, a cute jacket, she was so young and beautiful. I asked my ex if her performance was lip-synched because it was just so perfect. He's a musician, and with his better perception of such things told me there was one little part, one little note that was just a little off, and that's one of the reasons he knew it was live. I couldn't detect it, and I still listen to that performance (when I have my VHS player set up) completely incredulous that it's a live performance.

R.I.P. Whitney. You were one of a kind, one in a billion.
