Advanced driving lessons

is there such a thing? Maybe private lessons for adults?

no, I didn't mean for that to sound dirty!

I was reading about SUV and crossover safety, and how they handle differently, and considered that a few professional pointers might be useful. Also, if I get a vehicle (when I'm ready) with electronic stability control--I'm not sure I totally understand how that works, under what conditions it would kick in.

I'm a decent enough driver, having few tickets and accidents over 35 years, but I'm sure I've picked up a few bad habits along the way. I've never taken a defensive driving course. Do they give refresher courses for older drivers?

Don't know about here, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't something. I did an advanced driving course in the UK (lowers your insurance premium and I won a free course)

Give? I doubt it... Offer for a fee? Definitely.
Do a google search for advanced driver training and your city name.

yeah; not really finding anything other than initial instruction, defensive driving, and drug and alcohol awareness programs.

Just pick an instructor you like the look of and then tell them what you need.

You could take one of the Bondurant courses:

http://www.bondurant.com/
http://www.wildhorsepass.com/bondura...ng-school.html

Or look for other performance driving schools in your area:

My wife's work requires the employees to take some sort of driving school every few years and they've taken the Bridgestone Winter Driving course a few times.

There's also the BMW performance driving school in South Carolina:

Or you could ask me. And I work CHEAP!

I have the credentials and experience and would be happy to offer pointers if asked.

I might, at that, Brian, thanks! This is just one of those random thoughts that crosses my mind, and I'd probably want to wait until I got a new car, which will be months to years.

I'd like to see the faces of some of those performance driving instructors when I showed up in my little ol' honda hot rod.

Look for defensive driving courses. They can get you an insurance discount in many states.

They must only offer offensive driving courses around here, judging by rush hour interstate traffic!
