help!

So, I've just finished all of the new series of Doctor Who, and both seasons of Torchwood. I've watched a good chunk of season one of the original Doctor Who, but I can only take so much gloriously shitty 60s TV at a time...

so, brits! your mission, should you choose to accept it...
give me some other good british shows i should watch, that you think i'll enjoy.

Ibram, can I suggest you try the late 70's early 80's doctor who? It's still very cheesy in terms of fx, but Tom Baker and Peter Davison were both excellent doctors and whilst some episodes are awful, some are still worth watching now.

I used to like Blake's Seven, and The Tomorrow People, but I don't know how much they'd stand-up today. Same with Sapphire and Steel.

Did you watch Life on Mars, Ibby? That was pretty groovy.

[eta] not exactly what you asked for, but have you listened to any of the Big Finish audio plays of Doctor Who? There are some very good ones and many are available peer to peer or on youtube.

A really excellent little gem of a programme that was produced here in the mid-80s was 'Chelmsford 123' I'd b amazed if you could find it anywhere. I once managed to find it on one peer to peer site, but there was only one person uploading it and it took me almost ba year to get the whole series. Funny as fuck though, if you can get it. It's set in Roman Britain 123 A.D.

I loved Black Books. Also, if anybody is interested, 'Spaced' was brilliant.

Dana - thanks a million. I can't find a lot of it, but i'm working on it, hittin' up back channels and stuff. Youve given me plenty to dig through

UT- got all of 'em on dvd, seen 'em a few times.

Steve, Jinx, Sperlock - I'll add 'em to the list, I'll see how much I can find online. I've never heard of Black Books, but i've heard great things about the IT crowd, and I've seen the first season or so of fawlty towers, i'll see if i can find more.

thanks all!

I liked 'Allo 'Allo...
I also liked The IT Crowd, and Coupling was funny, for a while...

Good luck with that. If you find more, I'd be interested, mighty interested. Since there was only one season. (well, *two* "seasons", of six episodes each.)
