OK, I did that.

Actually I think what's happening is Geocities is arbitrarily discarding incoming requests when it doesn't fit their business model, ie. when the server is too busy. If you reload the page sometimes it serves, sometimes it doesn't. Inasmuch as they're now part of Yahoo it fits in with what we're seeing on Yahoogroups these days too.

Yahoo has gained a near monopoly buying up free internet data services like low-volume webservers and mailing lists. Now all they have to do is find a way to make money doing that. Both they and the folks who price software piracy losses by multiplying the list price times the estimated pirated copy count seem to not understand elastic demand that depends on cost.

I understand the Underpants Gnomes have been hired as consultants.
