Presario 2100

This perhaps should be in the humor thread?
Someone brought me a Compaq presario 2100 today. Said the cd-rom wasn't working.
"Because the disk wasn't spinning when he opened the tray!"

I'm guessing he has broken some mechanical thing. So I've never opened a laptop before, should I just get him an external box?
This kinda of made my day. When I plug it in, I'll post more. BTW I do this for fun? I just thought I'd would share that with all the folks here.
