Chester Co., PA doesn't want to take 10 Commandments off courthouse wall

You can read the story here.

Claims it might damage a 'historic' wall. WTF? When will these yokels get a clue?

The whole controversy about removing them was a big news story here in Philadelphia 2 or 3 weeks ago. The county is extremely adamant about removing them. Last I heard, they were going to appeal the original ruling...which hopefully they'll lose, deservedly so.

I wonder if half the people in Chester County actually knew that they were there before it was all over the news.

Yesterday, the county officials did indeed cover the plaque with an aluminum sheet, according to today's Inquirer. There's a great photo of a yahoo screaming "This is God's law, and no man can remove it"... as he's being led away by police, because he was trying to block the workers. I guess he thought that no man could remove HIM.

A second yahoo is camped out underneath the covered plaque, insisting that she'll remain there until it's uncovered. We'll see how long that fervor lasts. (It's probably not a long-term stay -- once the case hits the higher courts, the plaque will either be uncovered or yanked entirely.)

And, yes, it's been there for years and few have noticed it during that time. But let's not ignore all the other places in this country where the hardcore right are demanding that the Commandments be placed. This is the loyal opposition, pushing back. Do they think they're dealing with children?
