Got a new Disco Radio!!

And I couldn’t be happier!! The best part? I love this part; it has a dedicated button right on the front labeled WB. For Weather Band. Who ever saw a radio with a dedicated button for one band?! And who is this Weather group anyway? I know I didn’t get much Disco back in the day, being more into Prog Rock when Disco’s star was rising.

Also, it’s one of those self-contained, no AC cord, dynamo radios that you can take anywhere, doesn’t have to be plugged in. The antenna is internal and doesn’t stick out to be broken off. It has multiple speakers, a backlit display, it gets AM and FM as well, remote controls and has a cassette too.

But I just can’t get over the weather band. That is soooo cooool!!!

Here’s a good close up picture of the radio, with the WB button on the bottom row, second from the left. The second picture is a wider shot of the whole package. I’m so stoked!

Excellent, BigV. Of course I'm not sure why anyone in Seattle needs a weather channel. You want the weather in Seattle? Fine - R A I N. Yes, 10% of the time, I'll be wrong but since it won't be R A I N I N G you'll be too happy to notice.

Oh, and nice 4-wheel carrying case.

In our area the guy who announces on the weather radio has a really strong Swedish accent. We leave ours on stand by, and if there is severe weather it starts beeping, and makes fax machine sounds, then turns on. Unfortunately it alerts us if we are even just going to get a few drops of rain. Instead of just when a tornado is headed our way, which is the reason we got it. All day long, BEEP BEEP BEEP yumpin yimini it's a gonna rain.

I have an NOAA weather radio in my truck...I keep it tuned to the local weather station (seven to choose from) and then ignore it. It will emit a LOUD tone to alert me of severe weather. Even if I turn off the radio.

More than once during winter it will beep at me while I am sleeping and I will spend a few minutes trying to figure out what that noise was until I fully awaken and hear it again. It takes a few minutes to repeat.
