05/02/2002: The world's largest, smelliest flower
Hi all.
From Yahoo! News: The pungent smelling Amorphophallus titanum, also known as the Titan arum, the world's largest flower, is tended to by Science and Collections co-ordinator Kath King at Kew Gardens, London, May 2, 2002. The phallic flower is a native of the rainforests of Sumatra and only a few specimens have been cultivated. More: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...in_flower_dc_1

Could you do us a favor and post "Extra" after the date in the subject of future dated images? Just a personal preference. :P

Us traditionalists kinda expect it, I guess There has always been one "Image of the Day" - Undertoad's selection. Sometimes he will post extras, which will go with the "extra" tag. I guess I just sort of feel like Tony's should stand out, because this has traditionally been "his" forum, in the sense that he was the one that really made it work. Anything else is just extra anyway Now when someone posts something without a date, it's easy to see that it's not Tony's - he always leads with the date. But when someone does post with the date, it should have something to differentiate it from the "actual" Image of the Day.

Speaking of which, can we go back to the old "m/dd" date format? I liked that one better If not, dont worry. Just my preference.

THAT became a problem after I brought back a thread from almost exactly a year ago and someone got confused. Personally, here's my take on it:
Tony's should be posted as MM/DD/YYYY: Some clever caption and extras should go MM/DD/YYYY Extra: Some other clever caption But that's just my preference. |

you know, not to go back ON topic, but wasn't this flower featured in the movie "dennis the menace"...? or maybe one like it, i just remember mr. wilson trying to grow a very large flower. or keep it alive. or something. but it's been a long time since i've seen that movie, and my memory may be foggy...i will admit it's not a movie that really stood out with me.

I was going to say "It looks like Audrey." :-)
That darn stinkflower has been a round a long time.It was in a paperback world's biggest/smallest/fastest/etc etc etc book I had when I was a kid. The photo looks just like the line drawing in that book. Of course, it looks like that Jar Jar Binks lollipop too.

It was an Image of the Day before, too. Not this one, another one.
