Engrish

It's hard to believe the Engrish masquerading as real English over in Japan.
It can be seen on signs, people's jackets, t-shirts and shopping bags, in
menus and on TV.

Actually, John Rocker is a huge cult figure in Japan.

I particularly like the "Split Beaver" t-shirt in "apparel"

Ah yes, Maggie that's a long-time favorite.. in fact when I saw the thread topic I assumed somebody had noticed that picture and was posting it!

As a consumer of both anime and books on origami, it's always fascinating the little Japanese quirks I run across periodically. (My favorite line was from an article in Wired magazine about branding in Japan. They were talking about the popularit of Hello Kitty... "You can find Hello Kitty vibrators and douches, but don't look for letter openers. Since they have sharp edges and might hurt somebody, [whatever company it is] won't license the character for them)."

Yes, it wouldn't do at all to have someone use one to commit hara kitti.

Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

My own contribution, from a snowboarding trip to Vancouver earlier this year:

The girl's T-shirt says, "Expiring for love is beautiful but stupid." Just cracked me up at the time.

There's Hello Kitty "beef" jerky. I find it hard to believe that won't hurt anyone.
