Promoted Threads

Some threads become collections. Repositories of links or pictures or games or jokes or videos or WTFs, etc. That makes them similar.

It is sometimes hard to find something because you can't remember which forum to look in for it, or it has been a while since it was bumped.....Also, the search thing's defaults seem to be backwards of logic. (I always want to search by thread title, and want my results in posts, not threads....) ...not my point.....anyway....

I've tried making a thread with links to threads i want to be able to find quickly....but that depended too much on me being organized.

What if there was a forum that you couldn't create a thread in....threads could only be moved in by the moderators....once they reach that....'reference material' status? by appointment by anyone...and ratification of more than 'x' people.

A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

Oh, sorry.
That's a different ...
Nevermind.

So do flame war threads go in there too? Just for future reference of course. Or maybe there should be a forum to put all the threads that turn into flame wars too. That way when you're having a bad day you can go have a read till you find something you can blow up about and away you go.

You can start a home Link Library using your E-mail service. With 9 mouse clicks (about 20 seconds including E-mail delivery time) you can save an active link, in an E-mail message, to a Cellar folder on your computer. The title of the thread is automatically transferred to the subject line of the message and may be embellished at will. Forum oriented; or, subject oriented (e.g. humor, news, naughty bits ...etc.) subfolders make retrieval easier. Just open the email message with the subject line you want and click on the link contained therein. With my ISP, from the thread [web page] I'm viewing I:

click on File in the toolbar,
click on Send Link by E-mail in the drop down menu,
click on my address after the Send E-mail page and
.............................Address Book open up,
click on Send Message,
click on E-mail to open Inbox,
click on check box to select message,
click on folder icon to open menu,
click on The Cellar under Folders On Your Computer,
click on OK to transfer the message from
................storage on my ISP to my computer.

This goes really fast after no time at all and is practical; unless, you've got an awful lot of links to save.
