ED Prescriptions
So here's a question...
If a doctor prescribes Viagra or some other ED prescription, should the doctor be required to discuss the prescription with the spouse? My spouse came home with free samples & a prescription - unbeknownst to me. It took about 15 minutes for me to tell a difference... Am I wrong to feel violated because the prescription wasn't discussed with me (by spouse or doctor)? And finally, should this issue be posted in "relationships" or "health?" |

Like it or not, if the man won't talk about it with his partner, it's not the doctor's job.

No.
maybe you're not wrong to feel that you should have been consulted (and maybe you are), but it certainly isn't the doctor's job to tell you about it. seems like your hubby was feeling bad about his performance and trying to suprise you -why on earth are you upset?

The doctor is not at liberty to discuss that information with anyone but the patient and the insurance company.
Are you wrong to feel violated? That's up to you but if you haven't discussed it with your spouse by now then I think I understand why he didn't discuss it with you first.

The doc's job is to provide medical advice to the patient, not relationship advice to the couple. Not his job to inform you.

The Doctor doesn't have time for that shit unless you plan and go together.
If you know he got free samples and a prescription, I'd say you have discussed it. Sounds to me like your displeasure with him acting on his own, stems your failure to be able control him this time.

(probably might have something to do with his ED too. Tough to get it up if you are concurrently being emasculated. Umm. I read that somewhere.)

unanimous.
your question is a relationship one, not a health issue.

It would be a waste of time for my husband, he just doesnt need it. But if he did, and he surprised me with it, I dont think I would be uspset about it.

Well, let's see. Say I wanted to get birth control pills and my DH didn't want me to. Or meds for depression. Or meds for anything else, for that matter, that was optional, I wasn't going to die without them but they'd make me feel better about my life.
DH could very well sit in that doctor's office and say, hell NO, you're not putting my wife on the pill. I want her to have babies. Lots of babies! Barefoot and pregnant, that's how I like it! I highly suspect you'd go to the doctor and get the pill anyway, or would at least defend a woman's right to do so. Perhaps he was embarrassed to discuss it with you. I think many men would be. |
