Question Boring

My friend is having an operation on her foot and was told the procedure is called a "Lapidus" but i can't find any references to any such op.
I did, however google up a reference to one Paul Lapidus, founder of the podiatry section of NYU.
Does anyone know where i can find more specific procedural information on the operation apparently attributed to this guy and what distinguishes his from a garden variety hallux abducto valgus.
