Anatomy of a hoax

As I read this I kept wavering between "these people are losers," "This would have been funny," and "that sounds like something we'd try on the Cellar." (I suppose on further reflection these are not mutually exclusive.)

I also can't decide what was stupider, trying to plan something like this on a forum with open public registration, or signing up for the forum with your real name.

I had forgotten about that greenlight thing! I vaguely recall the inventors of the hoax fessing up to it on somethingawful...didn't know there was a mythbuster.

That guy's a loser. Busting a hoax is one thing, being all proud of it like he's some kind of Poirot is another. Lame. Send the man his Ovaltine decoder ring.

I remember hearing about the "toothing" thing. Definitely weird. Good read.
