Report: Group wants Burger King to pull movie-themed children's meals due to film's PG-13 rating.
May 24, 2005: 10:46 AM EDT

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - An entertainment watchdog group is asking Burger King to pull its "Star Wars"-themed children's meals because the latest movie is rated PG-13, according to a published report.

USA Today reported Tuesday that the Dove Foundation is urging Burger King to pull the "Star Wars"-themed Kids Meals from its restaurants because the film is not appropriate for the meals' target market of children ages 4 to 9.

Well, this is refreshing, to say the least ... the toys are bad, but apparently they are pulling attention away from the cholesterol levels.

I hope they do succeed in getting rid of the "Star Wars" theme so they can bring in the Joe Camel meals--ever so much cooler & more socially acceptable.

This story illustrates not one, but two problems I have with attitudes today.

1) I have no problem if these people don't want to take their kids to Burger King while this promotion is going on. What these people are really saying is we want to protect other families from themselves. Your poor children should not be exposed to this.

I'll decide myself, thank you.

2) There is only one level of bad. -- Oh my gosh! Promoting a movie to children who will have to have their parents permission to attend! We must dooooo something about this!

Please. Get a sense of perspective.

My 3 year old got Darth Sideus and one other guy in the Burger King meals....maybe if they pull the promotion his little toys will be worth a lot of money...oh, hell...we couldn't pry those toys from his hands anyway! Of course, this must mean he will turn into a devilworshipping sodomist, but he hasn't shown an interest in those things...yet...!!!!

my whole take on this silliness.. is that people need to start taking a little personal accountability about these things.. look! DAMNIT! if you don't want your kid to be 'tempted' then while the promotion is going on, don't go there! don't scream bloody murder at the corporations.. well all know they are only in it for the money! and sweet CRAP! why are you feeding your kids that junk food... junk..food! the name itself implies it is not good for you! anyway.. I need some more coffee, I'm getting cranky again.

actually I'm waiting for the Captian Morgans' Rum cross-promotion! I might actually breed for that one
