Short Fiction

Did you ever write a story for English class or for Creative Writing classes in school? Do you remember any of them? Were you proud of any of it? Did you hate doing it?

I remember some of what I wrote in High School, and I was thinking about re-writing one story in particular. From memory, but changing it wherever I want based on my current writing style. I'd try to keep the jist of the story, but having heard many more stories by now, and picking up nuances that i simply didn;t have back then, I'd like to have another go at it.

I'll Share if you will.

I won't rewrite it, but I'll tell you about it.

From sixth grade through junior high, I kept writing and reworking this story that involved a flood trapping anywhere from a dozen to a hundred kids in their school.

Always at some point in the story, the character representations of the two girls who bullied me all through those years ended up cannibalizing each other in desperation.

I've written a few short stories I have been quietly pleased with . Most of them have centred around game worlds ...I have a game character called Salo about whom I have spun a few dark or humourous tales...Usually set in mediaeval or pseudo mediaeval high fantasy worlds (so as to draw from my historical research)

But the story I was most proud of was not a Salo story and was nominally set in a Sci fi gameworld (ao), though it could have been any distopian future....or even a distopian aspect of the present. It was called Interrogation and was basically an exploration of the relationship between interrogator and victim. Not a new theme ...But I like to think I did something fresh with it.
